Family

I know that my family isn’t perfect, at all. We always have drama between everyone. But I love them. I think because of my family I will be a better adult. I have watched my family make many mistakes and because of those mistakes, I became a better person. I know now that I won’t do half the things my family does. I think being around all the people in my family really shows me how dumb you can look when you do something as an adult that two year olds don’t even do.
As I grow into an adult I will try hard to get done with high school and go on to college and make something of my life. Half of my family doesn’t have that many kids, if they have any. I want to have a child and get married. Others don’t. My family does impact what I will become, because of them I want to help kids get out of certain situations and if they have problems, I want them to come and talk to me about it. As I grow up I will realize that not all kids have it like some kids and you can have a great childhood and then ruin your adulthood and make nothing of it. I want to help children make something out of their childhood and adulthood.

My Hero

I think my papaw is very heroic. Anytime I need him, he would come. If I had a problem with anyone or anything I would call him. I remember as a little kid he would drive all the way to my house anytime there was snow and follow my mom and me to school. I don’t know anyone else that would do that. In my definition of hero he is at the top of the list. Papaw always has been there for us and would do anything for anyone.
My definition of a hero is someone that you could call to help you, and they would. They would follow you if you might not make it safely somewhere. They would always be by your side no matter what happened. You look up to them. My papaw fits every one of these. He is a very good man and if you don’t know him, you don’t get to be as proud as I am. He is my hero.

Truth or Dare

I have a cousin that I have been close to since I was little. He has been there for me through a lot. He has got me out of trouble, but also got me in it. One day my cousins, Jordan and Lauren, wanted to spend the night with me. Jordan is two years older than me and Lauren is five years older than me, so we only got along sometimes. Well, the night they came to stay was one of those nights that we all got along. We had taken the couch cushions off the couch and made a fort and played truth or dare for a long time.  Well, it was my turn. I picked dare, but, of course had something to do with my sleeping parents.
As I listened to my dare I began to get the nerve to back out. I can’t. I stand up and head for the hall way. As I walk down the hall I stop when I reach the door. I see them poke their heads into the hallway to make sure I actually do this. I knock twice and run for my life. I had to do it 3 more times. The next morning I had forgotten all about my horrible dare, but my parents didn’t. They sit us down and give us a lecture and we are sent to my brother’s room for an hour, with no toys no computers no nothing. Lauren doesn’t make me get in trouble on purpose anymore because she is nineteen and we don’t see each other much. Jordan on the other hand, I get in trouble at least twice when we are together.

Big Bawlbaby

As a kid I lived in the country, so we didn’t have to worry about being too loud. Our closest neighbor was about half a mile away, so if they called complaining about us being too loud, we would know we were too loud. One summer night my dad had been at work on the farm with Granddaddy, my great grandfather, and Papaw, my grandfather, and it was starting to get dark out. I had wanted him home for a while but she kept telling me he would be home soon. To pass time my momma, my brother, and I went outside and played on the play set. The mosquitoes were really bad at that time of night, so Momma sent me on a mission to get the bug spray from her car. I crawled in the front seat and grabbed it, clawed back out when I heard the car door shut I knew something wasn’t right.
As the door slammed shut I felt an awful feeling in my right thumb. I turn to look at the car once more and my eyes saw my thumb between the door and the other part of the car. I burst into tears and screams. I didn’t know what to do. I scream for my momma and she comes running with my brother. She was telling me to open the door with my other hand and all I can say is I can’t, I need bug spray. Finally I come to my scenes, drop the spray and run into the house. My mom is trying to calm me down but it was no use. The phone started ringing and she looks on the ID and it said The Walkers, our closest neighbor. I had screamed and cried so loud they wanted to make sure everything was okay. My mom informed them I was fine I just got my thumb caught in the door. After she got off the phone with Mrs. Walker she called my dad. Once I talked to my dad and he informed me that he would be home in ten minutes I stopped crying.  I think crying wasn’t ridiculous since my finger was stuck in a car door, but stopping once my dad was coming home was.

Bad Tempor - King of the Mild Frontier - My Story

Once as a child my brother, Dallas, and I at my grandmother’s house while my parents went out. Dallas was probably three or four and I was around eight or nine and we had a lot of fights and arguments at this time in our childhood. Dallas was a mean and violent child when it came to me doing something or having something he wanted. We had been playing some game we made up with clothes basket, Dallas wanted a turn, after he had been the “driver” for quite a while, so as his older sister I was not about to give in to him once more.  I finally got in the “car” (clothes basket) while Dallas went to get a drink. I promised him I wouldn’t take it; I remember I had my fingers crossed so that “broke the promise. As Dallas came around the corner, he saw I was in the basket, got so angry, of course, I just laugh. Momentarily, Dallas grabbed the first thing he spotted, unfortunately for me, it was a house phone. Dallas grabs the phone and throws it at my head, it hits my mouth and I had a fat lip for a few days. Dallas thought he could get away with it, but, he was so very wrong.
Later that night Dallas thought I was just going to ignore the fact he hit me with a phone. Well, he was wrong. As the night progressed I thought of a plan to get back at my brother. As a child, and even a teenager, I didn’t have good timing or luck. I finally find a fake hard plastic gun and as Dallas is watching television I walk up behind him and hit him as hard as possible on the back.  Once again, I was an unlucky child and had very poor timing, as the toy gun hits my brother’s back, my parents walk in the door. I had gotten in so much trouble. I had to go to my room as soon as we got home and not come out. The door was open and I had to sit there by the door, so they could see I was not playing with any toy. Once I was allowed to talk to them and explain myself I let them know the only reason I had hit my brother was because earlier that night he had given me a fat lip, so Dallas received a punishment as well. We never used fake guns or remotes as weapons again.

Five Literary Elements

Dynamic means a character in a book has changed from the beginning of the book until the end. In the beginning of my book Adrian was completely full of himself. He made fun of people, had tons of money, yelled at people who tried to help him or did something wrong, and had no real friends, his girlfriend didn't really even love him. Exposition gives you the background information of the story. In my story the exposition would be that Adrian came from a rich father who was a famous man. All the kids at his school were crazy about him. They would have killed to be his best friend, but even his "best friend" wasn't his actual best friend. Adrian didn't realize this until he became a beast. Once he snuck out of his house at night and went to a party, most of the kids from his school where there. Adrian had heard his old best friend and one of his other friends talking about him. He was devastated. The climax in this story was when Adrian and Linda started to become really good friends. This was the time when Linda started to like Adrian, more than a friend. They spent almost every moment together. They loved each other deeply. The falling climax in this book was when Adrian had to save Linda, one he saved her and they kissed her transformed back into his human self. Once Linda realized who Adrian was she relized how much she really did love Adrian. Dramatic irony is when us, the reader, think or know one thing and the other characters do not. Such as, we knew that Adrian loved Linda; Linda did not know Adrian loved her. Linda did not know she truly loved Adrian, but she soon figured it out.

Comments (:

On Atley’s Page –

Blog #1: I like how you told about what was going on with both characters. It was nice that you informed the readers that Caleb had been in jail for a year. This book seems to be exciting and eventful. I also like how you didn’t spoil the whole book or the whole first half of the book. You left the readers wondering. I thought that was really good. I will be sure to read it.

Blog #2: You had really good pictures. I have not read the book you are currently reading but the pictures and captions make me want to read it. The pictures seem to really describe what is really going on in the book. I think it seems like a very interesting book. The book you are reading seems pretty exciting. The book seems pretty good to read, and would keep most people’s interest.

On Hannah’s Page-

Blog #1: Hannah, you have done a good job on your blog. I didn't know that you were a sophomore or even 15. So I learned something new. Your book seems good, I might just read it. It seems pretty interesting but you will probably want to add more detail and examples in your other blogs. It was still good but maybe adds a little more detail. Keep up the good work and hope you enjoy your book.

Malika’s Blog:

Blog #1: Malika, I like how you told the names of the people and how they related to the story. You also put her sister in your blog, which is good. I think your book seems interesting. You seem to enjoy it already. It seems like a good book to read. You will have to let me know how it is. Also you have really good detail in your paragraph. Well, hope you enjoy your book. I look forward to seeing your other blogs. Bye. (:

Blog #2: Great job on the pictures! You really seem to have told the main points in the story. I like how you gave the sister, in the wheel chair, a part in the pictures. I like how you put pictures of Brittany and Alex. Even though they weren’t together at the beginning of the story didn’t mean anything. And I really like that you put the two pictures of Alex and Brittany in the blog. Good job with the pictures Malika! (;

http://www.classicalconnect.com/#/browse/search/dramatic

The title is Dramatico, the composer is Alexander Scriabin. I feel that this song is a good way to describe my book because my book is about someone who is a big beast and he can't leave his house without having to wear a lot of clothes to hide his face and body. In this story he is trying to find love. Finally, he gets a girl's father to trade him. Her father's freedom and drugs for the girl. Kyle felt bad about it but he needed love and company. Once the girl, Linda, and Kyle became close they started hanging out and studying together. One day, they went to the fifth floor, together.

They went to the fifth floor, not knowing what they wanted to find. All they knew is they wanted and to find something. Linda started going through one of the boxes. It was full of scrapbooks that had news articles, pictures, and stories of someone famous. She found a long green dress; Kyle talked her in to trying it on. Linda goes down stairs and puts on some make up, the dress, and perfume. Moments pass and Lindy returns to the fifth floor and is wearing the beautiful dress. Kyle knew then he was in love. Kyle and Lindy danced on the fifth floor. This song seemed like something I could picture them dancing to.

Beastly

My name is Kenzie. I am a freshman at Carbondale Community High School. I'm in Mrs. Hayes's class. I'm reading Beastly by Alex Flinn. I chose this book because I recently watched the movie and I really liked it. When I saw Beastly was on the list, I knew I wanted to read it. In my book, the main character, Kyle, has grown up being mean to all the ugly girls and boys. There was a girl, Kendra that stood up and said, “The people on this ballot were chosen on one basis and one basis only-physical beauty”. What Kendra is trying to tell us, is that the word only judges people on their outside appearance. Kendra has been watching Kyle and if he doesn't start being nice, then she will turn him into a beast. After Kyle's last chance Kendra turns him. Kyle went from the hottest guy in school, to an ugly, hairy, beast. Kyle has two years to find true love or he is stuck like that forever. His father moves him to Brooklyn and pays the house-keeper to live with him and keep their secret. Kyle's father pays a blind man to teach him, since Kyle can't go to school. Kyle starts being nice to the house-keeper and the blind man, Will. The only thing Kyle needs now is a true love and he will be normal again.
